How does the Titan laser treatment work?

Titan is a non-surgical treatment which employs a safe, infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin’s surface. This controlled heating can cause immediate collagen contraction, resulting in tighter firmer skin. During the procedure, the skin’s surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan handpiece. Following the procedure, new collagen encourages further tightening.

Both men and women with loose skin on their face or neck can benefit from the treatment. The procedure is not an alternative to surgery however it can achieve subtle yet noticeable results.

What can I expect from Titan laser treatments?

With each pulse you will feel a warming sensation followed by temporary cooling. On some areas you may feel a stronger heat sensation. Your tolerance levels will be monitored by your Dermal Clinician/Therapist. A treatment can take up to two hours depending on the area being treated.

On average, 3 initial treatments are needed to achieve the ideal result.

What other options are there?

If you are considering surgical options, you might consider making an appointment to have a consultation with Dr Taylor to discuss options further, by calling (02) 6282 1177.

In some cases your Dermal Clinician/Therapist will suggest layering Laser Genesis with your Titan treatments. Laser genesis works by heating the upper dermis and by combining this treatment with Titan you can address concerns such as fine lines, large pores, uneven skin texture, diffuse redness and scarring whilst still firming the skin.

What preparation do I need before Titan laser treatments?

Any treatment program should ideally include the use of active skin care. A well prepared skin will achieve optimum results. We want you to get the best results from your skin rejuvenation treatments, and we certainly don’t want to risk any complications!

For your safety, there are a number of reasons why you may need to postpone your treatment. Learn about what you should and should not do before you come for your My Genesis booking.

You will require an initial skin analysis consultation prior to this treatment, which will take approximately one hour with one of our qualified Dermal Clinicians/Therapists.

During your consultation your Dermal Clinician/Therapist will:

  • discuss your concerns with you
  • examine and assess the health and current condition of your skin
  • develop a personalised treatment plan including a tailored skin care regime designed to meet your specific concerns, lifestyle and budget
  • provide an estimate of costs and time required to complete your treatment program.

Is there any post treatment care following Titan laser?

Any redness or swelling should subside with 24 to 48 hours. Mineral make up can be applied by your Dermal Clinician/Therapist following the treatment. Your regular skin care routine can be continued following a Titan treatment.

Titan Laser Risks

  • Some discomfort may be experienced during treatment
  • Redness/swelling is common and can last for a few hours to a few days. A hive-like reaction may occur with treatment of smaller vessels
  • Bruising may occur and usually lasts for about 1 week
  • Hair reduction may occur at treatment sites. This is usually temporary but may be permanent
  • Laser and Pulsed Light procedures can result in redness, swelling, bruising, blistering, crusting, or flaking of the treated area, which may require one to three weeks to heal. Exposure to sunlight must be avoided 6-8 weeks pre and post treatment, this includes tanning beds. Skin infection is a rare possibility whenever a skin procedure is performed. Once the surface has healed, it may be pink or sensitive to the sun for an additional two to four weeks, or longer in some patients. Itching, Irritation and acne breakouts may also occur
  • There is a slight possibility that the treated area can become either hypopigmented (lighter), or hyperpigmented (darker), in colour compared to the surrounding skin. This is usually temporary, but, on a rare occasion, it may be permanent
  • Scarring is a rare occurrence, but it is a possibility if the skin’s surface is disrupted. To minimise the chances of scarring, it is IMPORTANT that you follow all pre and post-treatment instructions
  • Protective eyewear (shields) will be provided. It is important to keep these shields on at all times
during the treatment in order to protect your eyes from accidental laser and pulsed light exposure.

What is the approximate price range for Titan Laser at My Genesis?

The cost ranges from $255 for the eye area, then from $465 up to $800 depending on the area treated.
