What can Excel V+ treat?

Excel V+ is an advanced vascular and pigmentation laser that can be used to treat a range of concerns, including:

  • Facial redness and flushing
  • Rosacea and visible small blood vessels
  • Broken capillaries / spider veins, particularly on the face
  • Cherry angiomas and other superficial vascular lesions
  • Brown spots and sun/age spots
  • Freckles and some types of pigmentation
  • Some acne-related redness
  • Certain scars or areas of skin discolouration, depending on the cause

What type of laser is Excel V+?

Excel V+ uses two wavelengths to target different concerns:

  • 532 nm KTP laser – primarily targets redness, superficial blood vessels and some pigmentation. It is particularly useful for concerns such as facial redness, capillaries, rosacea and sun spots.
  • 1064 nm Ndyag laser – penetrates deeper into the skin and can target deeper blood vessels, vascular lesions and certain pigmentation concerns. It can also be used for larger or deeper vessels where appropriate.

The combination of wavelengths allows your clinician to select the most appropriate treatment for your individual skin concern.

What is the treatment like?

During treatment, your clinician directs the laser over the affected area. You may feel brief snapping, stinging or warming sensations, often described as feeling like a rubber band gently flicking against the skin.

The Excel V+ also incorporates contact cooling, which helps protect the skin’s surface and improve comfort during treatment.

A session can take approximately 15–45 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the concern being addressed.

Is there downtime after treatment?

Downtime varies depending on the treatment settings, wavelength used and the concern being treated.

Following treatment for redness or blood vessels, you may experience:

  • Temporary redness
  • Mild swelling
  • Small red, purple or darker spots where vessels have been treated
  • A warm or sunburn-like sensation for a short period

When treating pigmentation, spots may temporarily darken or become more noticeable before gradually fading over the following days.

Many people can return to normal activities relatively quickly, although your clinician will provide specific aftercare advice based on your treatment.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of treatments varies from person to person and depends on the concern being treated, its severity and how your skin responds.

For facial redness and visible vessels, a course of approximately 2–4 treatments, spaced several weeks apart, is commonly recommended.

Pigmentation may respond in fewer sessions, although some pigmentation and redness can recur over time, particularly with ongoing sun exposure.

Your clinician will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate wavelength, settings and treatment plan for you.
