Introducing Christie – our new Dermal Clinician

The CAPS Clinic would like to introduce Christie to our My Genesis Clinic, and hope you will join us in welcoming her to Canberra!

Christie is a university qualified Dermal Clinician with a Bachelor of Health Science in Dermal Therapies at the Victoria University. It is a four year degree, with graduates able to provide competent, efficient and compassionate clinical care in the dermal profession.

Christie comes to us from Melbourne, where she has been working for a year since she became a fully qualified Dermal Clinician. She has experience within various dermal based roles throughout her entire degree, as well as completing training in cosmeceutical skincare ranges and different treatment modalities. Christie also has a background of working in the healthcare industry.

Passionate about the dermal world, Christie enjoys helping clients achieve positive results using a holistic approach, as she strives to educate them on their condition, and the many contributing factors that may affect the concern as well as our goal of resolving them.

I love helping clients find solutions and resolution for their skin concerns and conditions. I love seeing their confidence return and excitement they feel when they see the successful results.

Her desire to help others and her generous nature were highlighted when she was volunteering with first year students studying the Dermal Therapies Degree. Christie tapped in to her organisational skills and experience to show them the best way they could retain and understand the overwhelming amount of information within the degree. Christie’s new clients here at the My Genesis Clinic will appreciate her ability to support them in the same way when creating treatment plans and explaining complexities about their skin condition or concerns.

As Christie settles in to her new home here in Canberra, she is really looking forward to getting out and exploring the city, from the lookout spots to the tourist hot spots to the local farmers markets, and everything in between! A keen camper and traveller, she will be able to appreciate all that the Canberra region has to offer. Christie also likes watching live sports, like ice hockey, rodeo and more recently AFL. Go Cats!

Hailing from Canada, you will immediately notice her accent and friendly personality. Here is a ‘fun fact’ about our new Dermal Clinician. (Be sure to ask her more about it when you meet Christie at the clinic!)

I used to barrel race in local small town rodeos and figure skate competitively, as well as coach younger up and coming figure skaters in my younger years.

Her top three skincare tips are

  1. Practice smart sun protection! Slip, Slap, Slop!
  2. Eat healthy and drink plenty of water
  3. Learn to understand your skins needs and do your research into skincare, treatments and the education of your clinician
