Abdominoplasty
Body Lift
After major weight loss the body often has more skin than is required. The excess skin of the buttocks and thighs hangs down in folds. This stretched skin can be excised in a bodylift operation. The bodylift elevates the buttocks while removing the loose, sagging skin from around the outer and inner thighs.
Bodylift surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and may be performed as two separate operations six to twelve months apart. Patients undertaking this procedure need to plan for up to five nights in hospital for each operation and will need two weeks off work following each surgery. All patients are strongly encouraged to wear a surgical compression garment for up to six weeks and to refrain from physical exercise and contact sport during this time.
Liposuction
Liposuction is a surgical method for removing bulges and body reshaping. It is not a method of weight loss. Patient selection is critical. Persons at their ideal weight but with persistent bulges are ideal candidates.
The surgery is generally performed under general anaesthetic. Patients undertaking this procedure need to plan an overnight stay in hospital and one week off work following surgery. All patients are strongly encouraged to wear a surgical compression garment for up to six weeks and to refrain from physical exercise and contact sport during this time.
